Breadth 1: Construction Management

As Chace Hall’s entire mechanical system is going to be redesigned, a construction management breadth is an appropriate field to look into. A cost study will be conducted, where the life cycle costs of both the current and proposed mechanical systems will be compared. The initial cost of the proposed mechanical system, as well as its annual operating cost, shall be calculated. In addition, a construction schedule shall be estimated, where the construction durations for both mechanical systems are to be compared.

Breadth 2: Electrical

As Chace Hall’s mechanical system is going to be redesigned, an electrical breadth is also another appropriate field to further examine. The building’s mechanical system is a great contributor to the building’s overall electricity consumption. Therefore, the electrical loads of the proposed system are to be calculated and compared to the estimated and actual loads of the current system.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐in progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Mohamed Mohamed. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.
